When I was six years old, I held a camera for the first time. It was a Nikon handed to me by our family photographer, Natalie Carter Hyde. From that moment on I was hooked and now, fifteen years later, I am back at the point of inspiration, Aesthetic Images Photography.
I am still in awe of what my camera can do and how everything has to work in a balance to capture that perfect image. From taking pictures on trips or hikes, to doing my best friends' engagement photos, I fell in love with being able to tell a story through my images. Being able to connect with my client is something that is really important to me because I believe that in the discomfort and anxiety someone might feel having their photo taken, there is always something genuine about the person. I am not just a photographer. I try to be an artist whose main focus is to communicate the essence of someone through the image created.
Being the oldest of five has always shaped the way I move through life. I thrive on competition and growth, so I’m always trying to be the best at what I do. Sports were my first outlet for that drive, especially in high school playing soccer. Although I’m out of my prime with sport, I still get that same feeling from pick up basketball games at the Y and pickle ball matches against my best friend. Lately I’ve been working on learning how to play the guitar and being able to play Olivia by backseat lovers has been my favorite accomplishment so far. My favorite genre of music would have to be Indie folk, with my favorite artist being Lord Huron.
Outside of sports and music, I’m drawn to art and history because of everything there is to learn from those who came before. I’ve always been fascinated by Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez—the depth, the perspective, and the way it invites you to look twice. I enjoy taking part in games that require strategy and patience, such as Chess and Risk. I love to travel and my favorite place I’ve been so far has to be Florence, Italy or The Vatican City.
